Why it matters...

What is user experience design?

Did you ever end up on a website or use an application that was pain-stakingly frustrating to navigate? That’s bad user experience, and that’s why good UX matters.

In other words, user experience is, you named it... the overall experience a user has with a businesses services or products. Most creative and marketing agencies don’t take the functionality behind their work to mind and because of this, while the assets that are executed may look nice they’re not usable which leads to unhappy customers and loss of sales.

Bad UX Examples

Information Overload: Assets that contain too much content that can be applicable to an overwhelming amount of text and/or graphics competing on the screen
Poor Architecture: Users are unable to find what they’re looking for; poorly organized
Contrast Issues: eye strain or inability to read content based on color and/or text size being too small
Broken/Complicated Paths: Users can’t perform intended actions; broken pathways

Good UX Examples

Streamlined Copy: copy that’s simple and easy-to-read while paired with a graphic to provide visual reinforcement and compositional balance
Great Architecture: Users are easily able to find what they’re looking for; well organized
Accessibility: colors and text sizes used remain legible across all users and age groups
Easy User Flows: Users can intuitively perform basic to complex actions with ease; all paths are operational
